Rwanda Chimpanzee Tracking Safaris

Nyungwe Forest is at present the best typical place to track chimpanzees in Rwanda. The chimpanzee tracking and terrain is very difficult and you must be of a very good fitness in order to gain the most from this experience. The habituated black and white colobus troop is much easier to view along with a relaxing visit to the visitor centre and the orchid garden.

3 Days Rwanda chimpanzee safari

Day 1: Arrive in Nyungwe Forest
You will be met by our safari guide and proceed to Nyungwe Forest National Park. On your arrival, you may decide to carry a guided nature walk. Dinner and overnight at Gisakura Guest House

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking
Early start trekking for the chimpanzees, this can take anything from a few hours to a full day depending on where the chimpanzees are. It should be mentioned that it is not guaranteed to see the chimps as they are unpredictable and can move long distances in one day. There are several other primates in Nyungwe such as the Rwenzori colobus, L’Hoest’s monkey, Silver monkey, Owl faced monkey and the Grey cheeked Mangabey. Dinner and overnight Gisakura Guest House

Day 3: Departure
Transfer to Kigali for a city tour including a genocide memorial site and shopping of African art and craft. Drive to Kigali International Airport for a departure flight.

Day 1: Arrive in Kigali
You will be met by our driver/guide upon arrival at Kigali International Airport and be transferred to Kigali for a city tour including a genocide memorial site and shopping of African art and craft. Dinner and overnight at Intercontinental Hotel /Chez Lando Hotel/Okapi Hotel

Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest
You will be met by our safari guide and proceed to Nyungwe Forest National Park. On your arrival, you may decide to carry a guided nature walk. Dinner and overnight at Gisakura Guest House

Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking
